Life Nice

New dress that I sewed.  It is turquoise with tiny white dots and white lace trim.

My new bike decorated with streamers.

My button collection organized into large, metallic, plastic/colorful, and others.

I took this picture during the process of making a hat.  No, not a crochetted hat, a baseball cap style hat.  I like this picture because it has beads, fabric, ribbons, yarn and a pattern in it.

My new hat!

Food from my garden: kale, arugula, corn and potatoes.  I made soup.

New handwarmers: olive green with wood rings.

New beaded earrings.

More Pretty Hats

Rust brown and turquoise blue look nice together!

Handwarmers! Yes it is that time again.  Keep your hands warm and fingers free.  These ones feature rings that I covered with turquoise yarn and then wove into the backs of the hands.

This button is cool; it is a round black ball.

This is the same style as the hat below in the previous post, but in a vintage brown yarn that looks purple to pink to tan depending on the light.  The stripes are vintage orange and beige.  There were various buttons that looked good but I couldn't decide so I left it plain.

Pretty Hats

This is a remake of one that sold in Golden Gate Park recently at a mini festival.  It is made with a rust brown wool, vintage gold and beige yarns.  The original looked so good on my friend Montse.

I love this one!  It is bright turquoise blue with some amazing black faceted glass buttons.  It does look really cute on a real model.

Buttons!

I picked these out at my community textile arts workshop- The Fabrica!  For only a small donation, I got all these awesome buttons for my new newsboy style hats that I have been making lately.  The buttons really add a classy element to a plain cap.  Due to all the inquiry I recieve regarding learning to crochet, I am even thinking about holding a class there for people who want to learn crochet.

Royal Necklaces

Here are some of my long and large necklaces made from seeds and coconut from Brazil.  I am keeping maybe half of them because this is one of the last editions before I will have to go traveling again to get more beads!  Seriously though, this style of long beaded necklace is a big trend right now.

I love how this one feels on my neck- so smooth!  Those are dinosuar eggs by the way.

Just Beautiful!

Fun with Oatmeal

I have always loved this oatmeal-colored yarn ever since I discovered it under the Red Heart label a few years ago.  My Jamaican friend Rose calls it tweed; she taught me some great new crochet techniques at the reggae festivals this summer.  Acording to the label it is Buff Fleck, a lighter version is Aran Fleck
I used it to make two Newsboy style caps with Grandma's buttons.  I also loved using it to mellow out one of my bright color combinations in a classic beanie style.

White Panda

White Panda!  So cute.  Compare with earlier post of Black Panda.  Someone said that he looks like he is partied out, I guess because of the circle around his eye.  Well, he is a party animal too!

Red Sparkler

Can be worn multiple ways.  Made with antique silver colored buttons.  Cotton yarn.

New Feather Earrings: Round 3?

Here is what a day home sick with a cold can produce!! These were such a joy to make.  I think I had to get extra creative because I am down to my last few materials

These ones I love; they are so unique.  Coconut from Brazil, golden chain, red seeds from Honduras.

Love this one so much!! It is like full moon and cresent moon.  Dynamic!  Not sure but I think the feather is from a hawk.
Single earring.  I found the feathers in peculiar ways.  Small peacock feather found on my doorstep.  Large found inside my tent at Reggae on the River.

This one is definately my favorite; it was so spontaneous.  I would keep it but I have too many earrings already!

Michelle's Blessingway into Motherhood Party

My dear friend Michelle is having a baby soon so we got together to celebrate her becoming a mom.  I had so much fun making this crown of flowers for her!  Bless Queen!

My Top Model

Nadia is my top model.  Here she is wearing what she calls her "Itals", the shell and seed earrings, and a gold hat with gold thread.  Bless Queen!

New Button Hat

This hat is made with dark green wool and silver antique buttons.  The wool smells amazing.  I got the yarn at the Santa Cruz Flea Market from a man from the Far East.

The buttons were my Grandmother's.
